Had the pleasure to work on Star Citizen's Station Docking found around the security docks and the many other rest stop space stations. This concept was a very fast paced iteration and together with Jack Kirkham as the Environment Artist we managed to nail down the restrictions heavy idea of the docking port very quickly into a functional concept.
As an extending docking ring, the station docking will act as a passenger boarding bridge allowing bigger than usual vessels to dock on space stations without the need to land in a hangar. Since most vessels have a very different silhouette, the passenger bridge will just extend on one axis, open it's interior when pressurized to allow passengers to traverse.
